My Little Dylan...

This post is long overdue. I have been meaning to do an update on Dylan for a long time, but time just seems to slip away. I can't believe Dylan is already 9 months! He is growing up way too fast. He is crawling, climbing, cruising, and getting into anything he can reach - and he's loving every minute of it! He is such a lovable baby. Some of my favorite things about him at this stage are:

• When he's crawling around and I say to him, "Come here Dylan" and wave my hands for him to come he comes crawling as fast as he can with the biggest grin on his face, I absolutely love it!
• When he buries his face into me
• When he gives kisses, I love them, and he loves giving them!
• When he plays with Kate, he's always looking to see where she is. I especially love when Kate is trying to entertain him and he just laughs and laughs at her silliness, so precious
• He is fearless, I can tell he is going to keep me on my toes!
• He is so ticklish, especially his back, he will just laugh and laugh
• When he crawls over to me and pulls himself up on my leg and just waits for me to pick him up
• His first word was ma ma, I love it when he says it to get my attention
• His little face when he is concentrating on something

He really is such a fun baby and we are so blessed to have him as part of our family. We just can't get enough of him! Here's some recent pictures of him, I know, it's kind of a lot...

First Day of Preschool

Kate started her first day of preschool today. I can't believe my little girl is old enough to start school. She was really excited to go! I think she was most excited about her new backpack that she picked out. The day she got it she packed it up with a bunch of stuff and there it waited for a couple weeks. I did threaten her more than once during that time that I would return her backpack if she didn't cooperate with me, that got her cooperation immediately, it was quite funny.

She picked out her outfit this morning and had to wear her ballet flats, not her sneakers, it was cute. She was so excited to see her teacher and be with other kids. I mentioned school to her several months ago (a mistake at the time) and she has been asking about it ever since. I was a little worried whether or not she would go without crying or asking us to stay. She is usually pretty good, but you never know with her. We all went to drop her off. We drove up and she got really excited when she saw her school and all the other kids. We walked her to her classroom and she walked right in. I hugged her and told her I'd be back and off she went to her bin to put away her backpack.

We left and it felt a little weird to be leaving without her. Sean went to work and I headed home. It was a strange feeling having only Dylan at home, even if it was only for a couple hours. It was nice to have some one on one time with Dylan, but I must admit that I did miss having Kate around. We went and picked her up after it was over and she was smiling. She had a great time. She was most excited about being able to play in the gym, she kept wanting me to go over there look in the window, which we did. She's excited to go back next time!

Deer Creek

We went up to Deer Creek to go boating and play in the water with some of my family for the last time this year. We had a great time! My sister had a new tube thing that we went on that was a lot of fun! We even got Kate on it and she loved it! I went on with Kate and my niece and we all went in the water. Kate was a little nervous, but she didn't cry, which is quite impressive for her! We didn't take Dylan on the boat, he just stayed on shore and hung out. It was a nice day to relax and be out on the water.

Syttende Mai

Most of you probably know that my mom is from Norway. Every year there is a Norwegian festival in SLC at the International Peace Gardens to celebrate Norway's constitution day (May 17th or Syttende Mai). I used to go most years while I was growing up, and Sean and I have made a point of attending each year since we moved back to the area. We went up to the festival yesterday and had a good time. Most of my family went also which makes it more fun. The festival basically consists of a short speaker/program, a parade (everyone in attendence marches in the parade waving Norwegian flags), games for the kids, and food. Blah Blogging...

Here's some recent pictures of Kate and Dylan. I back posted a few things since I was getting so behind. I felt pressured (from myself) to catch up from where I left off, but I'm giving up and not doing anymore catch up. So, hopefully I won't get so behind again. I didn't actually fall off the planet. I kept telling Sean I need to update my blog, people probably think that second kid really did me in, but that's not true. He is a really good baby. He definitely has his moments, but he is so fun to have in our family. It really has been much easier than I expected it to be. So anyway, I've just felt so blah about blogging. Hopefully things will get better. I do realize I have some readers (over seas even) that like to see pictures at least, so I will try to do better. So on that note, here's some pictures and a little video I think is cute!

Dylan at 4 Months...

Dylan had his 4 month appointment today. He is getting so big! He weighed 16 lbs., 15 oz. I have to say I was a little surprised he didn't weigh more, he's a little chunk, but he's adorable!

He smiles all the time, especially at me. If I smile at him, he will always smile back at me, I love it! He laughs all the time too. We sing him little songs and he'll just laugh and laugh, it's so fun to hear! I can't get enough of this little guy - I could kiss him all day! It just amazes me how much personality a little baby can have. He's pretty laid back. He has started to roll over. He can roll both ways, front to back and back to front, although he doesn't do it often. He is wanting to be held and entertained more and more. He has become quite the drooler and he loves sucking on his fists and toys.

Kate loves Dylan and always want to hold him first thing in the morning. She loves to help me do things for him and she always wants to be there to watch what's going on, a little mommy in training. She has informed me that Dylan is my baby and her water baby, recently named "Koki" (I have no idea where that came from) is her baby and she does everything with her baby that I do with mine. It's fun to watch. 

She is also totally into make believe, I love watching her imagination. She'll say something like, "Mom, I need some glue" (for some make believe thing she is doing), so I'll reach into my pocket and get out my imaginary glue and give it to her. She'll take it, use the glue, put the cap back  on and give it back. I'll take it and put it in my pocket. She gets this little smile on her face because she's so excited that I'm pretending with her. I think it's so funny.

Happy Easter!

We had a fun Easter this year. We ended up having some visitors for the weekend. My friend Rachel and her kids Livi and Aaron came up for the weekend to visit family and friends and they stayed at our house. Kate loved having two little friends, or "cousins" as Livi calls them, here to play with.

We spent Easter at my mom's house. Kate loved the egg hunt. She had a lot of fun finding the eggs, and she got the hang of finding the eggs much quicker this year than last year. She was very excited about all the treats! Treats, treats, this girl cannot get enough treats! I tried getting a good picture of Kate and Dylan in their Easter clothes but neither one was really cooperating, such is life!

Dinosaur Museum

Today we asked Kate what she wanted to do and she said she wanted to go to the Dinosaur Museum, so we all got ready and off we went. We had a great time, Kate had a great time running around and looking at all the dinosaurs. She liked playing in the water and sand area best. She is so funny to watch though. She is kind of a slow mover in there, picking of a handful of sand here, piling it up there. It's funny. I tried to get her to look up so I could get a good picture but she was totally ignoring me. I felt like I was some stranger trying to get her to let me take a picture of her and she was just looking around like, I don't know why this person is talking to me...gotta love it! Dylan was good, he slept some of the time and then looked around at everything when he woke up. After we went to the museum we went over to the candy store and got a treat. Unfortunately for me Dylan is not a fan of when I eat chocolate, it results in projectile spit up, so I ended up with smarties, so sad.
