Deer Creek

We went up to Deer Creek to go boating and play in the water with some of my family for the last time this year. We had a great time! My sister had a new tube thing that we went on that was a lot of fun! We even got Kate on it and she loved it! I went on with Kate and my niece and we all went in the water. Kate was a little nervous, but she didn't cry, which is quite impressive for her! We didn't take Dylan on the boat, he just stayed on shore and hung out. It was a nice day to relax and be out on the water.

Syttende Mai

Most of you probably know that my mom is from Norway. Every year there is a Norwegian festival in SLC at the International Peace Gardens to celebrate Norway's constitution day (May 17th or Syttende Mai). I used to go most years while I was growing up, and Sean and I have made a point of attending each year since we moved back to the area. We went up to the festival yesterday and had a good time. Most of my family went also which makes it more fun. The festival basically consists of a short speaker/program, a parade (everyone in attendence marches in the parade waving Norwegian flags), games for the kids, and food. Blah Blogging...

Here's some recent pictures of Kate and Dylan. I back posted a few things since I was getting so behind. I felt pressured (from myself) to catch up from where I left off, but I'm giving up and not doing anymore catch up. So, hopefully I won't get so behind again. I didn't actually fall off the planet. I kept telling Sean I need to update my blog, people probably think that second kid really did me in, but that's not true. He is a really good baby. He definitely has his moments, but he is so fun to have in our family. It really has been much easier than I expected it to be. So anyway, I've just felt so blah about blogging. Hopefully things will get better. I do realize I have some readers (over seas even) that like to see pictures at least, so I will try to do better. So on that note, here's some pictures and a little video I think is cute!

Dylan at 4 Months...

Dylan had his 4 month appointment today. He is getting so big! He weighed 16 lbs., 15 oz. I have to say I was a little surprised he didn't weigh more, he's a little chunk, but he's adorable!

He smiles all the time, especially at me. If I smile at him, he will always smile back at me, I love it! He laughs all the time too. We sing him little songs and he'll just laugh and laugh, it's so fun to hear! I can't get enough of this little guy - I could kiss him all day! It just amazes me how much personality a little baby can have. He's pretty laid back. He has started to roll over. He can roll both ways, front to back and back to front, although he doesn't do it often. He is wanting to be held and entertained more and more. He has become quite the drooler and he loves sucking on his fists and toys.

Kate loves Dylan and always want to hold him first thing in the morning. She loves to help me do things for him and she always wants to be there to watch what's going on, a little mommy in training. She has informed me that Dylan is my baby and her water baby, recently named "Koki" (I have no idea where that came from) is her baby and she does everything with her baby that I do with mine. It's fun to watch. 

She is also totally into make believe, I love watching her imagination. She'll say something like, "Mom, I need some glue" (for some make believe thing she is doing), so I'll reach into my pocket and get out my imaginary glue and give it to her. She'll take it, use the glue, put the cap back  on and give it back. I'll take it and put it in my pocket. She gets this little smile on her face because she's so excited that I'm pretending with her. I think it's so funny.

Happy Easter!

We had a fun Easter this year. We ended up having some visitors for the weekend. My friend Rachel and her kids Livi and Aaron came up for the weekend to visit family and friends and they stayed at our house. Kate loved having two little friends, or "cousins" as Livi calls them, here to play with.

We spent Easter at my mom's house. Kate loved the egg hunt. She had a lot of fun finding the eggs, and she got the hang of finding the eggs much quicker this year than last year. She was very excited about all the treats! Treats, treats, this girl cannot get enough treats! I tried getting a good picture of Kate and Dylan in their Easter clothes but neither one was really cooperating, such is life!

Dinosaur Museum

Today we asked Kate what she wanted to do and she said she wanted to go to the Dinosaur Museum, so we all got ready and off we went. We had a great time, Kate had a great time running around and looking at all the dinosaurs. She liked playing in the water and sand area best. She is so funny to watch though. She is kind of a slow mover in there, picking of a handful of sand here, piling it up there. It's funny. I tried to get her to look up so I could get a good picture but she was totally ignoring me. I felt like I was some stranger trying to get her to let me take a picture of her and she was just looking around like, I don't know why this person is talking to me...gotta love it! Dylan was good, he slept some of the time and then looked around at everything when he woke up. After we went to the museum we went over to the candy store and got a treat. Unfortunately for me Dylan is not a fan of when I eat chocolate, it results in projectile spit up, so I ended up with smarties, so sad.

Dylan at 2 Months!

Dylan had his 2 month appointment last week. I can't believe how big he is already. He doesn't even look like a 2 month old to me. He weighed 13 lbs. 9 oz. (which seemed kind of big to me until my doctor told me his daughter weighed 18 lbs. at her 2 month appointment!) and was 22.75 inches long. He was so good during the appointment, then the shots came - they gave him 5 shots, which seemed like a lot to me, I felt so bad as he screamed and screamed, but he stopped when the nurse stopped and I picked him up. He's a fun little baby. He's been smiling so much lately, I love it! He even laughs a little and he coos, so cute! He loves looking around and focusing on his toys. We even got out last week for a walk since it finally warmed up a little and he loved it - fresh air! He is not such a fan of tummy time, but he does lift his head and look around, he just doesn't want to stay there long. He has started grasping things and he loves sucking on his hands.



He has a mild case of Torticolisis we have have to try to get him to turn his head to the left. he has gotten better than he was, hopefully he will continue to improve. Unfortunately he has been a little sick this past week with some sort of virus. On Monday his poor little body was working so hard fighting it that he slept from 2:30pm-11:00pm!!! At first I was thinking, "sweet, he is learning to sleep longer", but then as it kept getting later and later, I started getting worried. I kept checking on him to make sure he was still breathing, he was in such a deep sleep. Eventually Sean went up and woke him up. I think he is starting to feel a little better now. Life with Two!

Life with two kids has been a little crazy, but it is getting easier. Dylan is a really good baby (and I realize that because I'm saying that then of course he won't be!!!). The first few weeks were a little hectic because we had family staying at our house and Kate was completely off her schedule and dealing with not having as much of my attention as she was used to. After about a week of having just her and I and Dylan at home she went back to her old self, which I was very grateful. I really thought I was going to lose it that week. Dealing with a whiny, dramatic Kate on no sleep was just not working. Don't get me wrong, she is still a 2 year old. I definitely went through the "we're never having another kid" phase. Now that Dylan is getting on a schedule and Kate is back to normal I could actually see having another in the future, Sean may take more convincing though.

Most days I feel like I don't feel like I get much done, but I think we still have fun. I was looking at some pictures I took today so I thought I'd post them. This is what we did today:

Here's Kate with her first person drawing. This is Sean, and if you're wondering what is all over his face (because of course it looks just like him), that would be owies, not really sure why!!?

Here's Kate in a dress I bought for her for this summer and her "slap my cap" hat, (from My Friends Tigger and Pooh). She thinks the hat is the coolest and she loves the dress and always wants to wear it, especially if she is going to dance. She thinks she must wear a dress when she dances.

Here she is taking her nap. She has been trying to boycot her naps for a while now, but she totally needs them because she gets too tired. We got this tent at IKEA last weekend and so far it is worth every penny.

We made sugar cookies today. I had wanted to do it for Christmas with her but it just never happened. She had fun, especially eating the cookies. She isn't usually a dessert girl, but I gave her one last cookie and then turned away from her and the cookies to check my phone. She ate that cookie and then swiped another without me knowing. She started getting in my face prancing around say, "I got another cookie" as she ate it. Too funny, such a kid.

Dylan is growing so fast. He seems to be getting bigger faster than Kate ever did. He has been smiling more and more the past couple of weeks, which I love. He has the cutest smile with a dimple on his left cheek. I haven't been able to get a good picture of his smile, but when I do I'll post it. He has been sleeping pretty good for the past week or so, he'll even fall asleep on his own if I put him in his crib, which I think is amazing! Here are some pictures of Dylan the past couple weeks, looking at the pictures makes me realize how much he has grown. He has the chubbiest cheeks.

Where's Dylan? I thought this was funny...

Tummy time, lifting his head. He usually only lifts it for a short time and then just rests. I think it is so funny because Kate never put her head down when she was on her tummy until she was like 6 months old. I remember taking a picture because it had never happened.

These last two pictures were just taken today, of course I think he's adorable. He is getting so big!
