Fun in the Sun

The weather has been so hot here the past couple of weeks - and finally not windy - so we have spent a lot of time playing outside. Kate loves being outside, so it is always a fight to get her to come inside. She's funny because when she is playing outside doing one thing, like pushing her stroller and we tell her it's time to come in, she immediately switches to something else that she must do before coming in, like bubbles, or riding her bike. She will keep asking to do different things as long as we let her, and we'll admit, sometimes we do give in - we know, that's why she keeps asking.

Here she is flying her kite. She loves flying this Mickey Mouse kite with Daddy. For some reason she really likes Mickey Mouse, I think it is because it is one of the first characters she was introduced to and recognized.
I took these pictures last month when there was a bit more wind for kite flying. She loves playing with Daddy, she gets so excited when he gets home from work. She doesn't want to leave his side.

Of course she loves to "do bubbles" as she calls it - what kid doesn't? I'm impressed because she can even do it by herself - she swings the wand and blows the bubbles.

Here she is playing in her sandbox. She really likes to play in it; I just hate when she gets the sand in her eyes. For some reason she ALWAYS is getting things in her eyes, so the sand is no exception.

Here she is playing in her new pool. We got this for her last weekend since it has been so hot here and she loves to play in the water. She was a little terrified of the alligator that you can see in the picture with her and Sean. She is really funny about big statues, stuffed things, and apparently blow up things. She is always afraid they are going to get her. But, she loved playing with the balls because she can squeeze the water from them. I think the picture with Sean is funny, she's just kickin' back in the pool on Daddy's lap eating her pretzels.

Such a fun and funny girl. I can't believe how big she is getting. She is a little kid. She is talking so much - she says anything we say and is making up her own sentences. I love that I can carry on a conversation with her and she can tell me what she wants or needs. It makes somes things much easier. She also sings, which I think is precious. We sing her songs before bed and she'll sing along with us. Her favorite song by far is "the temple song", I Love to See the Temple. If I would sing it to her a hundred times a day she would let me. Sometimes it feels like I sing it that much.

Strawberry Days Rodeo

Last night we took Kate to the Strawberry Days Rodeo. We had a good time. Kate did very well, considering she was up way past her bedtime. She loved the music, she was dancing and bouncing off our laps. I was afraid more than once that she would jump right out of my arms. She liked seeing the animals, of course after a while she would lose interest, but then as soon as the sheep, cow, or horse would go away she would suddenly become interested in it again and start asking where it went. The motorcyclists were amazing, although Kate was a little nervous for them. I kept watching her face to be she wasn't scared, but she seemed to have more of a look of concern for them. We had a really good time, it was a great night out together. I'm sure we'll be back next year!

My Little Hula Girl

Sean and I went to Hawaii while I was pregnant with Kate - over two years ago! While we were there we bought this little hula outfit for her. I have been storing it for the past two years until she was big enough to actually wear it! She is finally big enough. I got it out for her yesterday and had her try it on and she absolutely loved it! It was really funny because she walked around pulling on the grass skirt saying, "I love my skirt, I love it!" She was so excited and giddy, it was really funny. I thought she looked cute. The picture with her and the stroller makes me really laugh, check out all the loot she has on that stroller, she's been carrying that stuff around for a couple of days on there. She'll take it off, rearrange it and put it back on. She is really quite entertaining for me to watch.

First Family Camping Trip

On Friday we went on our first camping trip together since Kate was born. We had a good time. We went up American Fork Canyon to Granite Flats campground. We roasted hot dogs, made smores, and had hot chocolate. Kate of course was only interested in the smores, she couldn't get enough of the marshmallows and chocolate. Kate spent quite of bit of time playing in the tent, she thought it was a little play house. Of course she had a great time collecting things too - rocks, dirt, leaves, sticks. She is such a little gatherer.

We kept Kate up late in hopes of her falling and staying asleep better. We put her on the ground with us in a sleeping bag. We went to bed around 10:30PM or 11:00PM and the second we got in the tent Kate thought it was time to pretend she was in a bounce house. She was jumping all over and climbing on us. Finally I got her trapped in my sleeping bag with me and she fell asleep after a lot of songs. Unfortunately, she woke up in the middle of the night (we didn't have a watch so we don't know exactly what time). She wouldn't go back to sleep. She was driving us CRAZY! She stayed up and finally around 6:00AM Sean got up with her to get some Cheerios and start a fire.

We were cleaned up and out of there by 7:30AM. We had planned on eating French toast at Kneaders since it was free for Dads for Father's Day on Saturday morning. It was delicious. I would definitely say that if you haven't tried it, you definitely should. Of course, Kate was so tired from being up half the night that she fell asleep on the way to Kneaders. We just woke her up. Needless to say we were pretty much beat for the rest of the day. We got home and cleaned out the car, mowed the lawn and cleaned up a little and then just relaxed while Kate slept. We had a good time. Even though she didn't sleep well, it was still a fun time!

My First Blog

So, I have started a blog. When I first saw blogs Kate was much younger and I would think, "Who has time for this"? Well, since then Kate has grown and I have found more spare time so I decided that since we have friends and family living far and near that we don’t keep up with as often as we’d like that this would be a good way to let them know what's going on with us and to see updated pictures of Kate and our baby on the way. So, here I go, I’m entering the world of blogging.
